Class Four
Welcome to Class 4!
Mrs Barrick is the Class 4 teacher. We are also very lucky to have Mrs Baines working in our class too! Please see our curriculum plan for the term below.
PE and Games lessons
These lessons are on a Thursday afternoon. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on this day.
Homework
As in previous years, please listen to your child read as often as possible each week, help them to practise and learn their tables and spellings. The expectation is to read aloud at home at least 3 times every week. In your child’s Reading Log, please sign your initials next to the pages your child has read aloud and discussed with you each time they read. Children who read at home at least 3 times a week will move up our Class Reading Rocket and their name will be placed in a prize draw at the end of each term.
Please be aware that additional homework is given out every Friday and the children should return this by Wednesday of the following week. This gives children the opportunity to look at their homework over the weekend and ask questions they have on Monday or Tuesday before it needs to be completed.
What makes being in Class 4 special at our school?
There are lots of special Year 5 and 6 experiences which help to prepare our pupils for their transition to Secondary School. Children become more independent learners in Class 4. They have the opportunity to take part in sport competitions with other schools. Children in both years 5 and 6 are also invited to attend transition events at secondary schools throughout the year. We organise school trips and encourage visitors into our class to support our curriculum. Residentials to Robinwood and London help to prepare our children for the wider world and encourage independence.
